What are the softest bed sheets available?

My family has tried buying all sorts of 'soft' sheets yet after washing them, they often feel very coarse and anything but soft. It doesn't seem to matter how much they cost or from what store they're purchased.

Then some of the soft ones get a bunch of tiny, little balls or 'pilling' effect. And worse of all, some sheets actually become crinkly/crunchy sounding which is not a good thing when you're ready to settle in for a peaceful sleep!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, LoriWhat are the softest bed sheets available?
Try buying flannel sheets there soft and warm in the winter

Egyptian Cotton sheets are very soft...won't pill and stay nice...even good quality flannel will eventually pill..drying outside will make them harder feeling so pop them in the dryer for 10 or 15 minutes before placing on the bed to soften them up.
Flannel sheets are really great. Plus get a really high thread count. I have a 500 thread count set and it is very comfortable.
